Family Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

 I received so many requests for this recipe on my Instagram account, I absolutely HAD to share it.  My family and I have enjoyed variations of this chocolate chip cookie recipe for years.  I've added sea salt, brown butter, maraschino cherries, pecans, etc. to this cookie dough and its held up perfectly every time!  I am hoping you will try one of these variations after you try the original. 

Family Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe Yields 10-12 large cookies

INGREDIENTS:

• 1/2 cup softened butter (slightly chilled)
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs, beaten
• 1 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
• 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips 
• Optional: Add in any other toppings you'd like.  We often add cherries (liquid removed), sprinkles, nuts, etc.

METHOD:

• Preheat your oven to 410 Degrees Fahrenheit.
• Cream together the butter and both types of sugar until the mixture begins to become fluffy.  Be sure to scrape down the sides of your mixing bowl frequently.  This process will take about 4-5 minutes.
• Add in vanilla and beaten eggs.  Mix until the eggs are well combined. 
• In a separate bowl, combine your dry ingredients (baking soda and salt) in a large bowl.  Mix until well combined.
• Using a large spoon, begin gradually adding the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.  Add 1/3 of the dry mixture into the wet mixture.  Mix on low speed just until combined.  Continue mixing the wet and dry ingredients in thirds until they are fully combined.  Be sure to scrape the sides of your bowl to ensure all ingredients are incorporated.  Do not over-mix.
• Toss in both types of chocolate chips and mix well.  You can also add additional toppings here.  Be sure to incorporate the chips and other add-ins evenly throughout the dough.
  
• Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• Begin scooping the cookie dough using a spoon or cookie scoop, leaving 3-4 inches between cookies on each side.  I prefer using a cookie scoop to ensure my cookies are a uniformed size.
• Bake cookies on middle rack for 9-11 minutes at 410 Degrees Fahrenheit.
• Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool slightly before enjoying with a cold glass of milk. I prefer vanilla almond milk ;-)
